Unparalleled performance, access density, space and power savings – all in a self-maintaining, compact enclosure.

"For today's demanding applications, typical storage systems often fall short" said Russ Fellows, Senior Analyst with Evaluator Group.  “IT managers often have to choose between reliability, performance, power consumption and cost. With Atrato's new Velocity1000, they get performance that outpaces much larger systems, all in a self healing, dense form factor that costs far less to own and operate. This truly is storage for the Web 2.0 world."

The Atrato V1000 enables instant access to infinite stores of data for applications -- ranging from streaming video content to supercomputing and high-volume transaction processing. The V1000 design allows you to explore new opportunities for growth with ever more demanding applications without having to relinquish reliability, availability, space, or power savings.

When Performance Matters
One of the most pressing issues challenging IT environments is not the amount of available storage, but rather the speed at which the stored data can be accessed. Atrato’s V1000 is a high-density storage system that combines hundreds of identical disks and integrates advanced data acceleration features to deliver more than 11,000 IOPS in random read/writes and 50 Terabytes of storage in a 3U space. The Atrato V1000 delivers up to 10 times the performance of other storage products -- making it the fastest available storage system for any on-demand application.

”With Atrato’s V1000 system, we achieved multi-Terabyte dense packaging, high reliability, and sustained random access rates of 20,000 IOPS, allowing us to achieve the value and performance required by our customers.”
-Jon Huppenthal, President & CEO, SRC Computers, Inc.

When Access Density Matters
Traditional disk drive enclosures add more capacity to the data center but offer few improvements in data access density, averaging only 16 drives per unit. As a result, companies must integrate more systems to meet the performance demands, ultimately adding more space, power, and cooling requirements to the data center. Atrato’s data access storage system integrates 160 massively parallel disk drives into a compact five-inch enclosure. This high-density packaging condenses more storage capacity and computing power per vertical unit of rack space than conventional packaging to dramatically reduce the physical footprint and allow users to scale using their existing infrastructure. In fact, compared to traditional enclosures, the V1000 system occupies one fifth of the rack space and saves more than fifty percent of regular operating costs compared to other solutions. Prior to its innovation, placing the same number of disk drives into a single enclosure was impossible, due to the heat and vibration generated with so many drives in close proximity.

When Security Matters
With the Atrato V1000, you can rest assured that your content is secure. Central to the Atrato V1000 system is its Self-maintaining Array of Identical Disks (SAID), which provides a hardened and secure form factor. Content is protected within this sealed array with advanced content monitoring features. Your solution supports AES-128 encryption for another layer of security. And Atrato has partnered with Seagate[link to press release] to provide additional secure content delivery solutions, utilizing Seagate DriveTrust™ full disk encryption technology.

When Availability Matters
With data-on-demand moving to the forefront of enterprise requirements, availability becomes paramount to system performance. The V1000 system stripes over RAID-1 and RAID-5 sets for RAID-10 and RAID-50 respectively, and integrates virtualization software to eliminate any single point of failure. The V1000 takes this a step further by solidifying the system with its unique fault detection, isolation and recovery advantage, featuring predictive failure and auto-rebuild disk management.

When Green Matters
The amount of energy used to support the increased demand for data processing and storage doubled between 2001 and 2006, according to a recent EPA report on energy consumption. At current trends, energy consumption could double again by 2011. The Atrato high-density system offers many significant “green” advantages. With the density of Atrato’s system, the data center could use 80% less office space and 60-80% less power and cooling. A typical data center managing 1.5 PetaBytes of data would require only four Atrato systems housed in three rack units of space. In comparison, if the company implemented traditional disk drives enclosures, it would need twelve fully configured rack units to achieve the same levels of capacity and performance. This translates into savings of $74,000 per year with the Atrato system. As you look to manage storage growth or implement a greener data center, Atrato’s technology provides unprecedented savings in dollars per watt and dollars per IOPS.
